Group piano classes will not be offered during the Spring 2021 semester. We hope to resume these classes in the summer.
Group Piano Classes are a fun learning environment for the beginning* piano student. While emphasis is placed on learning to read music, students will also learn to play some songs without traditional sheet music. Games and activities are often used to teach musical concepts. Students will experience playing individually, in unison with the group, and together as an ensemble.
*Note: This class is for beginning students. It is not suitable for students who have had prior piano lessons. It is also not suitable for students with significant learning delays or behavior disorders. If you are unsure if this class is a good fit for your child, please contact the studio before registering.
Each student must have an acoustic or digital piano at home to use for daily practice. Please click here for information on these requirements. *Note: Tarpley Music, in Burleson, has a rental program for digital pianos, if you'd like to consider that route.
This is a weekly class. Class meets one day each week for one hour and 15 minutes. Commitment is for the full school year. Tuition is to be paid in full, even if the student withdraws early (no refunds). There are a couple of different options for payment plans available (see below).
Students are expected to attend every class. If an absence is necessary, due to illness, student will be responsible for picking up the assignment from the studio and preparing for the next class. If, at any time, a student feels they are falling behind, a private lesson can be scheduled with one of our instructors for a fee of $25 for 30 minutes.
COVID-19 Precautions: The physical and mental health of our students is very important to us at Mountain Valley Studios. We believe that it is very important to find ways to allow students to continue to do the activities they love in a safe manner. Therefore, we are taking precautions at the studio to limit any possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
All surfaces and supplies that are used during both group and private lessons are sanitized before the next student arrives. In each room, we diffuse essential oils (Thieves) that are known to kill airborne pathogens are diffused throughout each day. Our group lessons are kept very small (only 4 students) in order to provide adequate spacing in the room, and there are no shared surfaces or supplies. Each student has their own assigned piano, table, pencil, books, etc. We also have plastic dividers hanging between each student's piano/work space. (See pictures below)
Our waiting room is closed for the time being. Parents are welcome to walk their child into class, but must wait outside the building until class is over. Unless your child is very young, I recommend allowing them to walk themselves into and out of the building once they are familiar with the building. Parents and students must wear a mask when entering the building. Students will be permitted to remove their mask when they are seated at the piano. They will be instructed to put their mask back on if they must move about the room, go to the restroom, etc.
Everyone will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the studio.
