Summer Music Theory Workshops

Picture
It is important for all music students to at least have a basic understanding of music theory....note reading, chords, scales, key signatures, etc.  A more serious music student, especially one who plans to study music in college and/or perform professionally, needs an even deeper knowledge of music theory.  Our 2-week music theory workshops are designed to meet the needs of all music students, from age 12 to adult.

Fundamental Music Theory
Fundamental Music Theory is for the student who has not yet developed a complete knowledge of notes, rhythms, chords, scales, key signatures, etc. This is especially beneficial to the vocal and/or instrumental student who is only accustomed to reading from one staff and one note at a time.  It is also helpful for the guitar student who wants to understand the chords and scale patterns better or the piano student who needs to strengthen their understanding of basic theory concepts.

Students must register by July 9th, and complete a music theory aptitude test (see below) to enable the instructor to structure the class to fit the needs of the students.  (If you cannot open the file below, please contact the studio for assistance).

     Instructor:
  Nancy Scoggin
     Schedule:  July 16-27 (M-F)  @  12:30-1:45pm
     Ages:  12 - Adult
     Class Size Limits:   Minimum = 5;  Maximum = 10
     Tuition:  $180  (includes text book)

Advanced Music Theory
Advanced Music Theory is designed for the music student who has a basic understanding of music theory and wants to further their knowledge beyond that.     Students who are not strong in basic notereading, etc. should consider enrolling in "Fundamental Music Theory" and/or "Summer Jam Piano Class
".

Students must register by July 9th, and complete a music theory aptitude test (see below) to enable the instructor to structure the class to fit the needs of the students.

     Instructor:  Nancy Scoggin
     Schedule:  July 16 - 27  (M-F)  @  2:00-3:15pm
     Ages:  12 - Adult
     Class Size Limits:   Minimum = 5;  Maximum = 10
     Tuition:  $200  (includes text book)

All students enrolling in a theory class must complete an aptitude test.  Please open the file below and print it out.  Complete the test without looking for answers in a book or online.  This test is simply to help the instructor know what students already know coming into the class.  If you do not know an answer, please leave it blank.  Completed test should be delivered to the studio by July 9th.
