Update for Piano Contest 2020 Texas A & M - Commerce
Here is the message I have received from Luis Sanchez regarding the Sonata/Sonatina contest. I am trying to figure out the best way to handle making recordings to upload. The students will need to dress up and treat this as much like a contest performance as possible. I will keep you updated on how this should be done.
As a reminder, the contest fee is $35 per student. The fee is still charged with this alternate format, because judges still have to be paid and prize money is still awarded to winners of each category. If you have not yet paid this, you will notice that fee on your invoice this week. Please be sure to include that with your next tuition payment.
Please read all updates below. Deadline for video submission is now May 20th!
Dear teachers,
In an effort to provide a safe and healthy environment due to the Corona Virus outbreak, the Texas A&M University-Commerce has cancelled all events held on campus until further notice. Because of this situation, I have made the decision to modify the format of the 2020 Sonata/Sonatina Competition so that all registered participants can have the opportunity to compete.
The new procedure and dates included in this e-mail replace those advertise prior to this date.
The 2020 Sonata/Sonatina competition will be held via video submissions ONLY. Contestants must submit a video of the piece as a link to a YouTube video. Contestants must make sure that the submitted link is a working link and that the video is viewable by others. Before starting the sonata/sonatina, contestants must face the camera and clearly state their name and also say the level in which they are competing. All videoed performances must be done from memory and with NO repeats.
All video submissions must be sent by April 24, 2020, 11:59 pm. The extended time will allow students and teachers that have had to transition to online teaching due to the closure of schools and the encouraged social distancing.
Judges will select a winner for each level and the results will be e-mailed to all participating teachers by May 1, 2020. Comments, checks and Trophies will be mailed to the teachers to distribute to their students.
Please forward this information to all your participating students. Please stay safe and do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any help.
